Running Through a Fulfilled Life

Weeks 28-31 Update

Oh my, oh my.  How the third trimester has come and laid the boom on me.  It was like the power of suggestion of entering the 28th week alone was enough to make my body go into slo-mo.  I feel quite sloth like, like a sloth travelling through quicksand with a giant belly sack strapped to the front.  My energy has gone downhill.  My running has gone way downhill.  My ability to tie my shoes has gone downhill.  I don’t even bother painting my toenails anymore because, why bother, I can’t see them anyways and it’s in the middle of winter.  At least I am starting to see the light at the end of the pregnancy tunnel, with only 9 more weeks to go.

There is still a lot to get done before than, too.  Cleaning off baby things, arranging the nursery, packing a hospital bag, pre-registering for the hospital and organizing all the 0-3 months baby clothes.  As the queen of procrastination, I’m sure this will all get started at approximately Week 37.

Baby #2, however, is doing fantastic and continues to grow like a weed.  At 31 weeks, Baby is measuring 16 inches in length and weighing 3.3 pounds and is approximately the size of a coconut.  This is funny to me, because my stomach resembles more of a small globe at this point, so baby to stomach ratio is probably 1:3.   I have yet to experience any Braxton Hicks contractions at this point, but I never had any with J either, so who knows.  I’m just hoping that my body, this time around, decides to prepare itself better for laboring.

Let’s watch my belly grow, why don’t we?!

Until next time…Belly Out!

29 Weeks

Once again, I am le late at posting my weekly update.  Let’s just say it is for good reason as this past weekend was a fiesta in housework.  My parents were able to come up to not only visit, but take care of some lovely household tasks.  Mainly, getting Baby Mason’s future palace of crying and pooping ready (see Mom, I’m talking about poop again!)

I wish I had a before and after shot of the room, because it was a hideous cream and lavender combination.  Anything was sure to be an improvement and I can’t wait until everything is finally put together!

Baby Mason continues to grow by leaps and bounds.  This week, he or she is weighing in at 2.5 pounds and is a little over 15 inches long.  We now have ourselves a butternut squash.  Hopefully, it does not look like a butternut squash because that shape of a dome would be slightly awkward.

This past week, I have definitely noticed that the shock waves from Baby’s kicks are getting a little stronger.  As in, I am pretty sure I have figured out the size of each foot.  Mainly because they like to kick me in the right side of my ribcage.  I also can definitely tell I am gaining weight.  As much as I was trying to avoid gaining “everywhere”, I can tell I am getting a fuller face, chunky thighs, and a bigger badonk.  Good try Eli, good try old sport.  I have pretty much avoided standing on a scale except when at the Doctor’s office, but I have been right on track for weight gain so far, so I am expecting to see another solid poundage increase at my next OB appointment tomorrow.  I feel like the prize ham.  Stick a blue ribbon on me.

This week was also the first time I can definitely say, I feel pretty darn pregnant when I am out running.  My past few runs have been a slugfest in order to accomplish.  I feel like I have cement blocks on my feet, that I have zero spring in my step anymore, and that look pretty much like a ridiculous, waddling, female.  An example of what running I accomplished last week:

Monday–Rest Day
Tuesday–4 Mile Run
Wednesday–20 minute elliptical because Chipotle was more important
Thursday–3.5 Mile Run, 10 minutes elliptical, Weight circuit
Friday–Rest Day
Saturday–3 Mile Run with Momma
Sunday–3.5 Mile Run
Weekly Mileage: 14 miles

I don’t know how other pregnant people can run so gosh dang much, because I pretty much have been limited to about 15 miles per week since about Week 20.  But I feel like what little exercise I can do is really helping to keep my energy levels up, because we all know I’m going to need that!

Super Pregnant Belly Shot of this Week!

Is this direction my good side? Nope

Look at my belly from this direction…it’s huge.   I can’t win.  Or hide.
